Bahrooz Jaafar

Bahrooz Jaafar, is from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq; he has Ph.D. in international relations from Cyprus International University- Nicosia. He is the founder and head of the Mediterranean Institute for Regional Studies. 

He has been engaged in organizational and political work in the Kurdistan region for ten years. He has hundreds of articles and academic papers, with two printed books; “Turkey- Israeli Relations during the Justice and Development Party period (2002-2015). Also "The Political Economy of Hydrocarbon and its Impact on the Eastern Mediterranean: The New Emerging Regional Order"

His focus areas are: 

  • Energy geopolitics in the Eastern Mediterranean.
  • Energy security and ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, especially Iraq and Turkey. 
  • Strengthening human resources and diversifying economic resources. 
  • The role of multinational firms in increasing productivity.

MIRS’s Team

Mediterranean Institute for Regional Studies is a non-governmental non for profit institute and is dedicated for research of and about oil, natural gas and water resources. It also engages in geopolitical, local, national, regional and international issues and also aims to translate the external world into the Middle East, Iraq and Kurdistan particularly. Our institute provides detailed research and analysis in the above mentioned topics. Our institute aims to lead and participate in public policies through scientific researches, analysis, debates and conferences. It aims to contribute to peace, prosperity, peaceful coexistence tolerance in a region riddled with war, conflict and sectarian tensions. The institute publishes articles and research in Kurdish, Arabic and English languages.
